A Latvian company has won a contract from the Drone Coalition to supply Ukraine with drones worth €24 million.
This is reported by LSM+.
The contract with the company, whose name is not disclosed for security reasons, was signed by the Ministry of Defence of Latvia. The ministry notes that it is one of the leading national drone manufacturers.
Production will begin in the near future, and the first batches of drones are planned to be delivered to Ukraine this fall.
“This is another concrete contribution of Latvia to Ukraine’s victory. Drones are one of the key tools of modern warfare, and their massive supply is crucial for deterring Russian aggression,” said Latvian Defence Minister Andris Sprūds.
According to the newspaper, this is the largest contract to date signed under the Drone Coalition initiative, which brings together partner countries to support the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The Latvian drone coalition support program also includes contracts with other manufacturers. At least five new agreements are planned to be signed by August 2025.
Earlier, Militarnyi reported that Latvia had sent a new batch of drones of its own production to the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The 1300 drones included in this shipment are being delivered as part of an international coalition of drones.
This is the completion of the contracted number of drones from Latvian manufacturers, which were to be produced in the first half of 2025.
Funding for the purchase and delivery of these drones is provided by the international Drone Coalition, which is jointly led by Latvia and the United Kingdom. The initiative was launched within the framework of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defense in the Ramstein format in February 2024.
The previous batch of Latvian-made drones, also announced by Minister Sprūds, was shipped to Ukraine in late June. It also consisted of 1,300 units.
