The Ukrainian Defense Forces have eliminated a Russian serviceman whom Ukrainian investigators suspect of involvement in the shooting of two cars carrying civilians in the Kyiv region.
This was reported by commentator Necro Mancer.
Artem Belikov served in the 37th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces.
In early March 2022, during one of the so-called “raids to intimidate locals,” company commander Vadim Ovchinnikov ordered his troops to open fire on two civilian cars.
The cars were carrying Ukrainians attempting to evacuate from Severynivka to Uman. As a result of the shooting, a man, his wife and their 15-year-old daughter were killed on the spot. Only their youngest daughter, 9, survived.
According to the investigation, Belikov was among the soldiers who carried out the order.
At the time, he held the rank of corporal, but during the full-scale war he rose to the rank of junior lieutenant.
On June 23, he went on a combat mission during which he was seriously wounded.
Belikov was evacuated to a hospital in the temporarily occupied territory of Mariupol.
On June 27, Belikov died of his wounds. The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine suspects Belikov of criminal offenses under Parts 1 and 2 of Article 438 and Part 2 of Article 28 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war).
It was recently reported that Ukraine had identified two more Russian war criminals who tortured Ukrainian prisoners of war at Correctional Colony No. 7 in the village of Pakino, Vladimir region, Russia.
