The Russian machine-building plant Arsenal has patented a new towed artillery system for coastal defense, based on the 130-mm A-192M Armat naval gun.

This was reported by armored vehicle researcher Andriy Tarasenko.

According to the researcher, the emergence of a separate coastal system may indicate a definitive abandonment of the plan to create a multi-service artillery system based on the Koalitsiya-SV.

The artillery system consists of a turret with supports and all-around armor, mounted on a semi-trailer platform designed to be towed by a truck.

The ammunition feed system consists of an operational ammunition magazine, a receiver, and a reloader. The magazine is designed as a closed loop of a tracked belt assembled from guide tubes, wrapped around a frame. The frame is mounted on a turret behind the artillery gun.

The project involves the creation of a land-based artillery system based on the 130-mm A-192M Armat naval gun, which the Arsenal plant manufactures for Project 22350 frigates of the Admiral Gorshkov class.

It was also installed on the heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser Admiral Nakhimov during its modernization. Development of the system began back in the Soviet era, and its final refinement was completed in 2021.

A-192M Armat

The A-192M Armat is a Russian single-barrel, multi-purpose 130-mm naval artillery system developed on the basis of the twin-barrel AK-130.

The system is designed to engage surface, coastal, and air targets. Its weight without ammunition is approximately 25 metric tons—nearly four times lighter than the AK-130. As a result, the A-192M can be installed on ships with a displacement of 2,000 metric tons or more. After completing qualification tests in 2021, the Arsenal plant began serial production of the system.

The A-192M has a rate of fire of up to 30 rounds per minute. The maximum engagement range for surface and coastal targets is approximately 23 km, and for air targets—up to 18 km.

The system features a fully automated ammunition feed system, and fire control is provided by the 5P-10 Puma radar system, which includes a radar, a television sight, and an optoelectronic module. The system is capable of simultaneously tracking up to four targets.

The A-192M uses 130-mm unitary rounds, standardized with the ammunition for the AK-130 system. The known ammunition lineup includes the F-44 high-explosive shell, as well as the ZS-44 and ZS-44R anti-aircraft shells, the latter of which is equipped with a radio fuse that ensures detonation near an aerial target.
