The Belarusian KGB has accused the EU of forming a “Belarusian Liberation Army” to capture the country.

This was reported by the Russian propaganda outlet Sputnik Belarus.

Deputy Head of State Security Sergei Terebov said that the army could number up to 15,000 people and was organized “according to NATO standards.”

He made this statement at the CIS conference on countering terrorism and extremism, which is currently taking place in Dushanbe.

“According to the plans of the opponents of the government, it [ed.: the Belarusian Liberation Army] will be formed according to NATO standards and consist of three brigades with a strength of 9,000 to 15,000 people,” Terebov said.

They are allegedly recruited from among Belarusians living in the Czech Republic, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Ukraine. They are trained by instructors from the West and Ukraine.

The Belarusian Liberation Army “uses models of military and state facilities in Belarus” in its training. According to the KGB, the goal of the training is “invasion of Belarus.”
