The strike on the Gryshovaya oil depot in Novorossiysk during the night of June 7–8, 2026, destroyed 4–5 fuel storage tanks.
Satellite imagery published by Radio Free Europe/Radio Svoboda indicates that the most severe damage occurred at Tank Farm No. 4, where four tanks appear to have been destroyed. Additional isolated tanks across the facility also sustained damage.
The depot has been targeted before. On May 23, 2026, Ukrainian attack drones struck the Gryshovaya oil depot in a previous operation.
The Grushevaya Balka oil depot has a total storage capacity of more than 1.2 million cubic meters. Individual reinforced-concrete and steel storage tanks at the site range in capacity from 5,000 to 50,000 cubic meters.
At the time of the attack, the facility’s tank farm contained approximately 40–47 storage tanks.
Separately, on April 6, Ukrainian Defense Forces strike drones targeted the Sheskharis oil terminal in Novorossiysk.
The attack struck critical oil-handling infrastructure, including systems for measuring oil volumes and quality, as well as shut-off valves that control and account for oil flows between loading berths.
Sheskharis is one of Russia’s largest oil export terminals on the Black Sea. Located in the Port of Novorossiysk, it serves as the endpoint of major trunk pipelines transporting crude oil through Krasnodar Krai.
The Novorossiysk oil terminal complex comprises two interconnected facilities – Sheskharis and Gryshovaya – located roughly 12 km apart and linked by a dedicated tunnel through the Markotkh Ridge.
According to EnergyBase, the terminal is designed to handle up to 75 million tonnes of oil annually. The facility has a total storage capacity of 1.28 million m³, can load up to 250,000 tonnes per shipment, and has a loading capacity of 15,000 m³ per hour.
The facility includes 10 oil-loading berths with a combined quay length of 2,593 meters.
