Danish Museum Transfers SNAR-10 Reconnaissance System and BMP-1 to Ukraine

A Danish museum has transferred a batch of armored vehicles to Ukraine to support the country’s Defense Forces.

The shipment includes a BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle and an MT-LB armored vehicle configured as an SNAR-10 artillery reconnaissance system, according to Panzermuseum East.

The SNAR-10 “Park” is a Soviet ground artillery reconnaissance system based on the tracked chassis of the MT-LB multipurpose armored tractor.

The system is designed to detect moving ground and surface targets, as well as locate artillery shell impacts to help adjust indirect fire.

The SNAR-10 was the first system in its class to feature a target identification mode based on the Doppler signal spectrum. It can detect moving ground targets at ranges of up to 17 km and surface targets at up to 30 km. It can also detect ground-level shell bursts at ranges of 4–10 km and surface bursts at 14–23 km.

In 2022, Ukraine’s Defense Forces captured a Russian SNAR-10M1 mobile ground-based radar reconnaissance system.

The upgraded SNAR-10M1 is reportedly capable of detecting tanks at ranges of up to 35–40 km.
