Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has presented a new loitering munition, the Shahed-107.
This was reported by the Iranian publication Mehr.
Official specifications have not been disclosed, except for one — a claimed flight range of up to 1,500 kilometers.
Judging by the published images, the device is equipped with a turboprop engine, has an X-shaped tail and a rectangular wing. Mechanization is visible on the wing, most likely an aileron.
The fuselage is elongated, cylindrical in shape with a pointed nose. A Pitot tube, a device for measuring flight speed, can be seen at the front.
It can be assumed that the drone is launched either from a catapult launcher or using a solid-fuel accelerator.
It is also possible that the Shahed-107 can take off from a running start on the runway using a wheeled launch trolley that detaches after takeoff.
It should be noted that the Shahed-107 drone has already appeared in the public information space, although its images have not been published before.
In particular, in January 2024, Sky News reported that several such drones could have been transferred to Russia as part of one of the agreements between Moscow and Tehran.
At that time, it was noted that the aircraft was about 2.5 meters long and had a wingspan of up to 3 meters. Its flight range was estimated to be the same — up to 1,500 kilometers.
Judging by the photos currently available, the drone’s geometric parameters — wingspan and fuselage length — visually correspond to the characteristics given earlier.
With these parameters and flight range, the drone’s warhead is unlikely to be very heavy.
The history of the Shahed-107 probably began more than a year ago, but only now, in the context of the escalating Iranian-Israeli confrontation, has Tehran decided to officially present this development.
