The Ukrainian military managed to detect and destroy a Russian Zemledeliye minelaying system in the Kursk oblast.

The footage of the attack on the Russian position was shared by Special Kherson Cat on the social media “X”.

The Russian vehicle was detected by Ukrainian drones near the pontoon crossing of the Seym River. The Ukrainian military used the American HIMARS system to destroy the Russian unit.

“The 413th Battalion, together with the 78th Airborne Assault Regiment “Herts”, destroyed a rare state-of-the-art minelaying system near the Russian pontoon crossing on the Seim River,” the military said.

The GMLRS rocket struck a Russian position containing a minelaying vehicle, causing its ammunition to detonate and scatter in various directions.

This Russian mobile mining system is designed to quickly create minefields in particularly dangerous areas.

Presumably, the Russians planned to block the paths of the Ukrainian military in the Kursk oblast by these minefields.

Zemledeliye is capable of creating minefields at a distance of 5 to 15 km.

This system launches rockets to place mines in a designated area and can create minefields of varying complexity, including those with passages for its own troops.

Externally, the artillery part of the engineering vehicle resembles the launchers of the Grad MRL.

The system uses 122mm ammunition, but for mining operations, it employs ammunition with a warhead containing ready-to-use mines.

In 2023, the Zemledeliye was destroyed by Ukrainian National Guard soldiers who managed to hit the system with an attack drone.
