WINFLY Unveils Spider UAV Interceptor with Net-Based Capture System and Autonomous Recovery Capability

Ukrainian company WINFLY has unveiled the WINFLY Spider interceptor, developed on the WINFLY 10 Hunter airframe and integrated with the Karakurt net-deployment system for non-kinetic target interception. Following target capture, the interceptor is designed to return to its launch point.

The company confirmed the development to Militarnyi.

The WINFLY 10 Hunter platform provides an operational ceiling of up to 5,000 meters, a maximum speed of 160 km/h, and an operational range exceeding 18 km.

The system has a flight endurance of up to 25 minutes, can be deployed within 3 minutes, and is capable of detecting and identifying targets at ranges of up to 500 meters.

The system is designed to counter fixed-wing UAVs, as well as Mavic-series drones, FPV drones, and fiber-optic-controlled UAVs. The manufacturer offers both daytime and nighttime variants of the platform.

The integrated KARAKURT-K2 net launcher weighs 210 grams and is manufactured from high-strength aluminum. It connects via a USB Type-C interface and is rated for operation in temperatures ranging from −20°C to +50°C. The launcher has an effective engagement range of up to 15 meters, with the net expanding to a 3 × 3 meter area at a distance of 3–5 meters.

The cost of a single net deployment is UAH 1,100, while the interceptor remains undamaged and ready for subsequent sorties.
