Four Latvian citizens are accused of spying for Russia through the organization “Baltic Antifascists.”
This was reported by LSM.
Latvia’s State Security Service (VDD) has called on the prosecutor’s office to initiate criminal proceedings for the collection of intelligence in Latvia and its transmission to Russian intelligence agencies.
The suspects transmitted data to the “Baltic Antifascists” Telegram channel — an organization whose founder has confirmed ties to the FSB and the GRU and which is used as a tool to recruit people to sign contracts with the Russian Armed Forces, conduct psychological operations, and gather intelligence on Latvian territory.
The investigation was conducted by the Latvian TV channel TV3 and Mikhail Khodorkovsky’s “Dossier” Center.
Those detained are:
Two members of the group — Tatyana Andriets and Oleksandr Zhgun — are currently on trial in Latvia. In April 2026, the Kurzeme District Court in Talsi suspended the criminal case against Zhgun and Andriets because Zhgun had been placed on the wanted list. The other members of the organization — Sergey Vasilyev, Viktoria Matule, Roman Samul, and Stanislav Bukains — have fled to Russia or Belarus.
