Drones Struck the Afipsky Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar Krai

On the night of July 14, Ukrainian drones struck the Afipsky Oil Refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, causing a fire to break out on the facility’s grounds.

Monitoring channels, including Exilenova+, reported the attack on the refinery.

Early in the morning, the Krasnodar Krai Operational Headquarters confirmed the strike on the facility and the fire on its grounds.

In addition, they reported damage to a building at a railroad crossing.

“Debris from the drones fell on the grounds of two facilities; in one case, a fire broke out. Fragments of the UAVs were also found in the yard of a private home,” the statement reads.

The oil refinery attacked today is located in the village of Afipsky. A photo posted online shows flames. After analyzing the image, Astra concluded that the fire broke out in the area of the refinery’s tank farm.

The Affected Oil Refinery

The Afipsky Oil Refinery is one of the largest oil refineries in southern Russia, with a design capacity of over 6 million metric tons of crude oil per year. The plant produces gasoline, diesel fuel, gas oil, vacuum gas oil, fuel oil, sulfur, and gas condensate distillates.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the facility has repeatedly been targeted by Ukrainian drones. In particular, the plant was attacked on the night of June 11.

These strikes are part of Ukraine’s campaign to target oil refineries, oil depots, and other facilities involved in oil transportation, as well as facilities that supply fuel to the Russian army.

This morning, drones operated by the Ukrainian Defense Forces also targeted the Salavat Oil Refinery in Bashkortostan, Russia.
