On the night of Friday, May 10, an oil refinery in Russia was on fire.

The media reported a drone attack on the Pervyi Zavod refinery.

A video of the fire was posted online by eyewitnesses among local residents.

This Russian oil refinery is located near the village of Polotnyany Zavod in the Dzerzhinsky district of the Kaluga region.

Pervyi Zavod is the largest petrochemical enterprise in this region of the Russian Federation.

It is about 300 km from the border with Ukraine.

Locals claim that they first heard sounds typical of a drone flying overhead, followed by several powerful explosions. And a large-scale fire broke out in the area of the Russian oil refinery.

According to the local residents, employees were evacuated from the refinery around midnight local time, and there were no casualties.

A powerful fire on the territory of the enterprise was captured on video by eyewitnesses.

Kaluga Region Governor Vladislav Shapsha acknowledged the fire and said that as of Friday morning, the fire had been extinguished and the extent of damage to the company’s infrastructure was being assessed.

On the night of March 15, this Russian oil refinery had already been attacked by drones. A fire broke out at the enterprise and damaged equipment.

The Pervyi Zavod refinery is the largest petrochemical enterprise in the Kaluga region that processes commercial crude oil and gas condensate. The nominal oil refining capacity is 1.2 million tons per year.
