South Korea scrambled fighter jets in response to the overflight of more than 10 Chinese and Russian military aircraft.

This was reported by South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, according to The Korea Herald.

Military aircraft from China and Russia entered the country’s air defense identification zone (KADIZ). The incident occurred over the Sea of Japan and the waters south of the Korean Peninsula.

The foreign military aircraft entered and exited the Korean air defense identification zone one after another. However, no violation of South Korea’s airspace was recorded.

According to an official spokesperson for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, this overflight by foreign aircraft is likely related to joint air force exercises being conducted by China and Russia.

Foreign aircraft are typically expected to provide advance notice before entering such a zone.

Similar incidents involving China and Russia in South Korea’s air defense zone were also recorded in December 2025 and November 2024.
