For the third time in a month, attack drones have attacked the production facilities of the Syzran Oil Refinery.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As a result of the attack, a fire broke out on the refinery’s premises, which led to a partial suspension of its operation.
According to the analysis of the video footage, the CyberBoroshno community suggests that the drones probably hit the tanks, which caused them to catch fire.
It should be noted that as of today, the plant already has significant problems for its full functioning, as on August 24th, 2025, Ukrainian drones hit critical equipment of the Syzran Oil Refinery in the Samara region of Russia, without which it cannot operate.
At that time, the refinery was hit by 5 drones, three of which hit critical equipment, namely the AVT-6 primary oil refining unit, the L-35-6 secondary refining unit, and the pumping station.
The plant was also attacked on August 15th. At that time, local residents heard at least ten explosions. Later, the American edition of Reuters published a story claiming that the attack led to a temporary suspension of processing and acceptance of crude oil at the Syzran refinery.
The Syzran Oil Refinery is part of Rosneft. Its capacity is 8.9 million tons of crude oil per year and its products include gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene and bitumen.
The company supplies fuel to the Samara, Saratov, Penza regions and partially to the central regions of Russia. The refinery also supplies fuel to airfields and military units of the Central and Southern Military Districts of the Russian Federation.
The Syzran Oil Refinery has been attacked by Ukrainian attack drones before. In particular, in February and March of this year. At that time, a fire was also recorded on the territory of the enterprise.
Several regions of Russia and the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine have experienced serious disruptions in gasoline supplies and a significant increase in prices for its residuals.
The shortage is most acute in Crimea. Some gas stations have completely disappeared, while others have sporadic supply, which has led to a persistent fuel shortage on the peninsula.
Other regions of the Russian Federation are also experiencing problems. In Trans-Baikal, price tags for AI-95 have gone out at gas stations, and the remaining gasoline is only sold to corporate customers. In Vladivostok, two grades of gasoline – AI-92 and AI-95 – are in short supply.
In Buryatia and Primorsky Krai, the fuel shortage caused a sharp rise in prices – by an average of 5-10 rubles per liter.
The reasons for the fuel shortage have not yet been officially confirmed, but it is likely to be related to the systematic work of the Ukrainian Defense Forces to destroy the Russian oil refining infrastructure.
