Ukrainian drones attacked Russia’s Dubna Space Communications Center in the Moscow region on the morning of June 30.
The Exilenova+Telegram channel published video footage from the scene, recorded by eyewitnesses.
Following the strike, a column of smoke rose from the facility’s grounds.
The Dubna Satellite Communications Center is a major satellite ground communications facility in Russia and is effectively one of the key hubs supporting satellite communication channels.
It has been in operation since 1980 and is considered one of the largest facilities of its kind in Russia and Europe.
The facility has a dual-purpose role. Its infrastructure can be used not only for civilian applications but also for government and state communications systems, including military communications.
Dubna supports a wide range of satellite communications functions, including managing satellite links across the Russian Federation and beyond. The center also serves as a key hub for distributing state and commercial television broadcasts.
Ukrainian drones previously struck the facility on June 22. After analyzing satellite imagery, Militarnyi identified damage to the main building.
The building houses the server infrastructure and the operations control center. Among other equipment, it contains the main control console, which monitors and analyzes information about the center’s operations, as well as operator workstations.
In addition, a clearly visible hole can be seen in a neighboring building, which also plays a significant role in the management of the satellite communications center.
