Ukrainian Forces Destroy Su-33 Carrier-Based Fighter Jet at Vityazevo Airfield

Russians are clearing away the wreckage of a Su-33 carrier-based fighter jet destroyed on September 9 at the Vityazevo airfield in the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation.

Satellite images were published by the OSINT project CyberBoroshno, showing an excavator and a wing from the aircraft.

They also added that the fighter jet was destroyed using an FP-2 medium-range strike drone.

The downing of the Su-33 on September 9 was reported by the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert “Madyar” Brovdi.

The Su-33 is a fourth-generation Soviet, and later Russian, carrier-based fighter jet, designed to operate from aircraft carriers.

The aircraft was based on the Su-27 fighter, equipped with a forward-swept wing, reinforced landing gear, an arresting hook, and folding wings to save space in the aircraft carrier’s hangar.

As a reminder, in August, the 1st Center for Unmanned Systems of the USF struck Su-30SM and MiG-29 fighters, as well as the Orion strike and reconnaissance UAV at Vityazevo Airfield.
