The German-American company Auterion has announced the completion of the Artemis project, the development of a long-range attack drone for the US Army.

The drone has a range of up to 1600 km and is capable of accurately hitting targets using visual guidance. It has already been tested in Ukraine, where it showed promising results, according to Hartpunkt.

The drone is similar in design to the Shahed, but was developed in Ukraine. Production is set up in the US, Germany, and Ukraine.

Auterion cooperates with a Ukrainian manufacturer whose name is not disclosed for security reasons. The company also has partners in the US and Europe to scale up production.

The vehicle can carry a warhead weighing up to 40 kg. It is equipped with a Skynode N computer and a navigation system that works even without GPS.

The experience of combat use in Ukraine became the basis for the approval of the system by the US military. Tests included a ground launch, navigation without GPS, long-range flight, and a pinpoint strike.

“Our Artemis drone is designed for mass production and rapid deployment. It allows partners to develop autonomous strike capabilities on a large scale,” Auterion CEO Lorenz Mayer stated.
