The Danish Defence Intelligence Service (DDIS) has claimed that Russia is behind a series of cyberattacks against Denmark.

These include an incident with a water utility in 2024 and a series of DDoS attacks on Danish websites ahead of the 2025 municipal and regional elections.

According to DDIS, it was Russia that was involved in the attack on the water utility, which was destructive and could have affected the country’s critical infrastructure.

The report notes that the Z-Pentest group, which attacked the water utility in 2024, has direct ties to Russia.

It was also confirmed that the NoName057(16) group, which conducted DDoS attacks on Danish websites before the 2025 local elections, is linked to Russia.

Danish intelligence emphasizes that both groups are used by the Kremlin as tools of hybrid warfare against the West.

Their goal is to create a sense of insecurity in target countries and punish those who support Ukraine.
