Defense Intelligence of Ukraine and SSU Detain Belarusian Agent Attempting to Infiltrate Ukrainian Intelligence

The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, together with the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), uncovered a Belarusian KGB agent who was attempting to infiltrate one of Ukraine’s military intelligence units.

The press service of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine reported this information.

The agent was identified during a long-term, coordinated special operation carried out by the agency’s internal security units and SSU investigators, under the procedural supervision of the Office of the Prosecutor General.

The 35-year-old suspect was detained in Kyiv and charged with espionage.

Investigators documented her activities and conducted a counterintelligence operation, deliberately supplying her with disinformation disguised as classified materials.

According to the investigation, the agent had been cooperating with the Belarusian KGB since 2015 and in 2020 was deployed to Ukraine to carry out intelligence activities.

Her cover was journalistic work. After working for the sanctioned TV channel 112, linked to Viktor Medvedchuk, she later found employment with one of Ukraine’s leading media outlets.

Subsequently, on the instructions of her handler and under the pretext of undergoing a medical examination, the woman traveled to one of the European Union countries, where she received additional training.

Among the tasks assigned to her was collecting information on citizens of Belarus and Russia who are fighting against the aggressor state on Ukraine’s side.

In a separate assignment, the agent was tasked with establishing contacts with employees of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Kyiv in order to collect information on the activities of Chinese diplomats in Ukraine.

The detainee is currently in custody. She faces up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

According to the Belarusian media Nasha Niva, the detainee is journalist Inna Kardash. She was born in 1991 in Minsk.

It was recently reported that Russia is using Belarusian territory to control Shahed-type attack drones during strikes on Ukraine.
