Turkish company ASELSAN has secured contracts worth a total of €2.46 billion to supply air defense systems.
The company shared this in an official announcement.
The contracts were signed between ASELSAN and Türkiye’s Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB).
The manufacturer did not disclose the types or number of systems to be delivered or the deadlines for fulfilling the orders.
At the same time, ASELSAN already has systems in its portfolio that combine different means of engaging aerial targets.
In particular, the company developed the self-propelled GÜRZ system, which combines a 35 mm automatic cannon, short- and very-short-range air defense missiles, radar and electro-optical detection systems, and electronic countermeasures.
The system can engage targets in different ways, depending on the threat, from drones and helicopters to aircraft and cruise missiles.
At the same time, it has not been reported whether GÜRZ is included in the new contract.
In addition to GÜRZ, ASELSAN is involved in developing Türkiye’s layered air defense system known as the Steel Dome (Çelik Kubbe), which is intended to integrate radars, command-and-control systems, and various means of engaging targets into a single network.
The architecture includes KORKUT anti-aircraft gun systems, GÜRZ systems, GÖKBERK laser systems, electronic countermeasures, and HİSAR and SİPER air defense missile systems.
Militarnyi previously reported that in June 2026, ASELSAN received a contract worth about $900 million to supply equipment for the Steel Dome. Deliveries of components under that agreement are scheduled for 2028–2032.
The Steel Dome (Çelik Kubbe) is a Turkish layered air defense project similar to the U.S. Golden Dome initiative and Israel’s layered air defense architecture.
