Russia began removing MiG-29 multi-purpose fighters from storage sites at airbases.
This was reported by MilitaryAviationInUa analysts based on fresh satellite images.
The published satellite images show MiG-29 air fighters being removed from a military air base near the Russian city of Millerovo on October 15.
These fighters used to be at Millerovo air base in the Rostov region for a long time.
From 2009 to 2014, this air base was not operated. On January 1, 2014, the 31st Fighter Aviation Regiment was reestablished.
On February 25, 2022, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked this airbase with the Tochka-U ballistic missile.
Then, according to Ukrainian forces, at least 2 Su-30SM fighters of the Russian Aerospace Forces were destroyed.
MiG-29SMT fighters that had not been operated in recent years were also removed from the storage at the military airbase in Kursk.
THe MiG-29SMT single-seat multi-role fighter is an upgraded version of the MiG-29SM fighter.
The development of an upgraded fighter MiG-29SMT began at MiG Corporation in early 1997.
The fighter received new avionics, an expanded range of weapons and an increased range.
In 2014, the Russian Ministry of Defense ordered 16 MiG-29SMT(R) single-seat fighters of a new construction. Production of aircraft under this contract is carried out by MiG Corporation.
