The Armed Forces of Ukraine are successfully operating the Oncilla wheeled armored vehicles.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports this.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine noted that the armored vehicle was upgraded by Ukrainian engineers specifically for the needs of the military and with consideration of the Armed Forces transition to NATO standards.
Oncilla is equipped with a light combat module with a 12.7-mm NSVT heavy machine gun and has a 10-fold thermal imaging sight.
The Oncilla armored vehicle is a licensed version of the Ukrainian Dozor-B armored vehicle, produced by the Polish company Mista.
Previously we have already covered the differences of these wheeled combat vehicles.
Information on the sale of a license to produce the Dozor-B armored vehicle to the Polish company Mista was first released in 2013. MSPO-2013 arms exhibition in Poland was a platform where a version of Dozor-B called Oncilla was demonstrated.
The first Oncilla armored vehicle was assembled at the Kyiv Armored Plant, and further production was to take place in Poland.
In April last year, it was reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine received another batch of Oncilla combat vehicles, which were assembled by the “VK System” company.
The total number of units delivered is not disclosed. Before being delivered to the field, the cars were tested at the landfill.
In 2016, it was reported that the Polish version of the vehicle was being tested in Ukraine, but no information about test results was released.
In February 2020, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine announced the supply of weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including Oncilla combat vehicles, occurring in 2019.
