Enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group tried to breakthrough in the Sumy region

On the morning of May 16, Ukrainian border guards fought the enemy saboteurs.

Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported about this.

The enemy opened fire with mortars, grenade launchers, machine guns, and submachine guns in the border area of the Sumy region.

A Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group tried to enter the territory of Ukraine under the cover of fire.

Dmytro Zhyvyskyi, Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration stated that the fighting took place in the Shostka district.

“The enemy opened fire with mortars, grenade launchers, machine guns, and submachine guns in the border area of Shostka district,” he wrote.

Ukrainian border guards fought the saboteurs and forced them to retreat beyond the state border.

The Russians are constantly shelling the border areas of the Sumy region. Ukrainian defenders are regularly repelling the enemy.

Previously, in the Kharkiv region, one of the Territorial Defense battalions pushed back the Russian military and reached a section of Ukraine–Russia state border.
