Eight military units have had their right to independently conduct basic general military training (BGMT) revoked.

Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, announced this.

During a working meeting, Syrskyi reviewed the results of inspections conducted in May at 72 military units that had been granted the right to conduct BGT at their own bases.

“Based on the inspection results, several management decisions were made, including some tough ones. Eight military units have lost the right to conduct basic training independently,” Syrskyi said.

Individual brigades and regiments were tasked with reviewing their capabilities and improving the conditions and content of training for new recruits.

“Where commanders care for their subordinates, improve living conditions, and develop training facilities—where instructors mentor recruits and maintain constant communication—there is higher-quality training and fewer instances of desertion,” Syrskyi noted.

In April, Oleksandr Syrskyi also streamlined the bureaucratic steps involved in the procedure for processing the return of service members after combat duty.
