In the first hours of the military operation in the Kursk region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with the participation of paratroopers from the 80th Brigade and the support of a tank, captured the Russian Sudzha crossing point.

The Russian soldiers were forced to surrender to save their own lives.

The video of the storming of the Russian crossing point and the taking of prisoners of war was released by the press service of the 80th Air Assault Brigade.

“More than fifty captured Russian soldiers in the Kursk region, a destroyed border crossing point and a breached line of Russian defense. These are the results of the Ukrainian paratroopers after the first hours of the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ offensive in the Kursk region,” the brigade said.

Approaching the Russian Sudzha border crossing point, on August 6, assault groups of the 80th Brigade enlisted the support of artillery and heavy armored vehicles of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and launched an assault.

In particular, the footage shows a Ukrainian T-64BV tank firing at close range from a direct line of sight at the buildings of the crossing point where the Russians, who initially tried to resist, are hiding.

Ukrainian drones also flew over the buildings to track the enemy’s movements.

“Faced with heavy fire from Ukrainian artillery and seeing Ukrainian tanks on the territory of the border crossing point, the Russian soldiers made the right decision to put up a white flag and surrender to Ukrainian soldiers,” the 80th Air Assault Brigade said.

The surviving Russian servicemen, together with their wounded, moved toward the Ukrainian border under the supervision of Ukrainian soldiers and drones, where they surrendered.

As previously reported, an offensive operation by the Ukrainian Defense Forces has been underway in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation since August 6. The Ukrainian government had set up the first military commandant’s office in the part of the Kursk region controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The rapid advance deep into the territory of the aggressor country led to the disorganization of the Russian military units that were directly on the border or in the near rear.

Militarnyi previously reported that more than a hundred Russian soldiers had laid down their arms and surrendered to Ukrainian soldiers in the Kursk region. Russian prisoners of war replenish the exchange fund, which will help Ukraine bring home as many of its prisoners of war held in Russia and in the temporarily occupied territory as possible.
