On the morning of July 6, attack drones of the Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully struck the permanent deployment site of the Russian Federation’s 26th Missile Brigade.
Video footage of the strike was published by the Telegram channel Exilenova+.
The target of the attack was military unit 54006 in the city of Luga, Leningrad region.
One of the key brigades armed with Iskander operational-tactical missile systems is based there.
This brigade is part of the Russian Federation’s Western Military District and has repeatedly been involved in combat operations against Ukraine.
Details regarding the extent of the damage, personnel losses, and equipment losses are currently being clarified.
The Russian side traditionally does not comment on such incidents or reports that the attack was repelled without providing confirmed details of the consequences.
In addition, due to the threat of drones entering its airspace, the Finnish Defense Forces imposed temporary flight restrictions on Monday morning at approximately 6:10 a.m., and at 7:00 a.m., they also imposed restrictions on shipping in the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland. Jere Paldanius, a spokesperson for the General Staff, directly linked these security measures to Ukrainian strikes against Russia. At 12:00 p.m., after Russia announced that the air threat had ended, Finland lifted all restrictions.
It is worth noting that this is not the first attack on this brigade’s permanent base. For example, on December 13, 2025, a drone exploded in the city of Luga, Leningrad region, on the territory of the 26th Missile Brigade (military unit 54006).
In addition to attacks on the brigade’s permanent base, the Ukrainian Defense Forces also destroyed SRBM systems directly at their launch sites.
Specifically, on June 5, 2025, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched a missile strike against positions of the Iskander SRBM system in the Bryansk region.
At least one launcher was destroyed, killing at least eight servicemen from the 26th Brigade, while five others were wounded.
The location of the strike was geolocated by the author of the blog OSINTtechnical, 40 kilometers from the Russian-Ukrainian border near the village of Martyanovka.
Earlier, Militarnyi reported that on May 30, 2026, strike drones from the 1st Separate Center of Unmanned Systems Forces struck an Iskander operational-tactical missile system in Taganrog.
