On the night of September 4, Ukrainian drones attacked Sochi, reportedly striking two oil facilities – Rosneft’s Adler oil depot and a Lukoil facility.
The ASTRA news outlet reported on this.
A fire broke out at Rosneft’s Adler oil depot following the drone strike. Russian authorities also confirmed the fire at the facility.
According to preliminary information, there are no casualties.
In addition to the Adler oil depot, reports indicate that the Lukoil oil depot was also hit. Thus, during the overnight attack, two fuel infrastructure facilities in Sochi were struck at once, both of which are responsible for the storage and supply of petroleum products.
The Lukoil oil depot has 12 storage tanks with a total capacity of approximately 8,400 cubic meters. The facility is used for storing petroleum products.
Meanwhile, OSINT analysts from CyberBoroshno identified one of the affected facilities as LLC Basic Aviation Fuel Operator.
The LLC Basic Aviation Fuel Operator is located near Sochi (Adler) Airport. The company handles the receipt, storage, quality control, and refueling of aircraft with aviation fuel at airports across Krasnodar Krai.
All of the storage tanks at the BATO Fuel and Lubricants Complex were protected by special structures, but this did not prevent the facility from being damaged.
Sochi Airport is a major aviation hub, ranking fifth in Russia in terms of passenger traffic in 2024.
Also today, according to OSINT analysts, a Russian air defense position in the Sirius area was hit. The site may have been equipped with S-300 or S-400 surface-to-air missile systems.
Sochi has been targeted by drone attacks on numerous occasions. The area around the city is home to important Russian fuel and military infrastructure.
