The Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed a road bridge near the village of Rozdolne in temporarily occupied Crimea, causing a section of the bridge to collapse onto the railway tracks below.
The Crimean Wind Telegram channel published photos showing the damage.
According to the channel, the strike took place overnight on June 18, 2026, simultaneously with an attack on a nearby railway bridge crossing the North Crimean Canal.
On June 22, Special Operations Forces (SOF) drones launched several more strikes on the structure of the railway bridge crossing, causing critical damage and completely halting train traffic on that section.
Later, members of the Ukrainian resistance movement documented the arrival of specialized railway repair equipment at the scene. Subsequently, during the night of June 22–23, drones carried out another attack on the railway facility near Rozdolne.
The drones struck both the invaders’ repair equipment and the remains of the already-damaged bridge once again. This disrupted Russia’s plans for a rapid restoration of railway logistics.
As a result of these strikes, as well as the collapse of the road bridge onto the railway tracks, operations on the only railway line connecting Russia’s Krasnodar Krai with the central and western parts of Crimea, including Simferopol and Sevastopol, have been suspended.
This section of the railway was critical to maintaining internal logistics and supporting the operation of the peninsula’s entire military infrastructure.
In addition, the railway connection with Krasnodar Krai and the occupied parts of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions has been severed. This route had been used to supply Russian forces operating on the southern front. As a result, rail freight can now reach Crimea only from Russia’s Rostov region via Volnovakha.
The Russian occupation administration has already announced that, “temporarily,” all trains arriving in Crimea and departing from the peninsula will now terminate at Kerch-South – Novyi Park station.
In late June, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck at least three ferries near Port Kavkaz in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, including the last remaining rail ferry, Elena II.
These vessels played an exceptionally important role in sustaining Russian logistics in Crimea because, following successful Ukrainian strikes on the Crimean Bridge, the occupying authorities imposed restrictions on the movement of freight trucks and freight trains across the bridge.
