Ukraine will not be attacking Russia with the Western weapons – Christine Lambrecht

Christine Lambrecht, German Minister of Defense stated that Ukraine will be using Western weapons to defend itself and not attack Russia.

She stated this while answering the question of the Member of the Bundestag, Focus writes.

“We did not need to demand this from the Ukrainians, they themselves clearly stated it. We are confident that Ukraine will be using the weapons only for defense,” she said.

Lambrecht also stressed that one of the goals of providing Ukraine with weapons is to ensure that it would not lead to further escalation.

“Providing weapons to the combat zone was not an easy decision. If you ask me, Ukraine does not accumulate weapons, but has enough to defend itself from the aggressor – Russia”, Lambrecht said.

As previously reported, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov reported that German PzH 2000 ACS were added to the arsenal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine artillery.

The German government had released a list of weapons that will be handed over to Ukraine. It includes 30 Gepard SPAAG and its ammunition, and the IRIS-T SLM SAM.
