A fire broke out in Russia’s Samara Region following explosions overnight on October 2, likely at the Samara Linear Production and Dispatch Station (LPDS).
ASTRA reported this after analyzing photographs taken by eyewitnesses.
Drones were reportedly spotted in the Samara Region, and at 5:51 a.m., a missile threat was declared in Samara. It is currently unknown what weapons were used in the attack or what caused the fire.
In particular, a drone was reportedly flying toward Chapaevsk, a city located approximately 55 km straight west of the Samara LPDS.
Explosions were heard in the city of Samara itself, with a particularly powerful blast reported at around 6:30 a.m. The missile threat was later lifted, but the threat of a drone attack remained.
The OSINT resource Exilenova+ also reported a fire at the Samara LPDS, providing the facility’s coordinates: 52.993146, 50.534118.
Authorities have not yet confirmed which station was hit or the extent of the damage. Local authorities have not commented on the fire at the facility. The mayor of Samara only said that ground public transport services in the city had been suspended.
It is part of the Transneft system and is a major hub for the transportation, storage, and blending of crude oil. Its territory covers more than 216 hectares, and its tank farm is the largest in Europe.
The station has 71 tanks with a total capacity of more than 1.6 million cubic meters of oil. The facility also includes the Samara-1 and Samara-2 oil pumping stations, as well as a separate oil blending station.
Four trunk oil pipelines converge at this hub: Almetyevsk–Kuibyshev, Kaltasy–Kuibyshev, Nizhnevartovsk–Kurgan–Kuibyshev, and Guryev–Kuibyshev. They carry oil from Western Siberia, Tatarstan, the Orenburg region, and Kazakhstan.
Ukrainian strikes have previously targeted the Samara LPDS. In particular, on the night of September 23, 2025, operators of the 14th Unmanned Systems Forces Regiment struck the station again.
On April 21, 2026, it was attacked by drones operated by the SSU’s Special Operations Center “A.” According to preliminary reports, five crude oil storage tanks, each with a capacity of about 20,000 cubic meters, were damaged.
