Ukraine has asked Germany to provide dozens of additional interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems from its stockpiles.

According to Bloomberg, the Ukrainian side has proposed a deal under which it would receive the missiles now in exchange for transferring interceptor drones to Germany, to be delivered in the future.

The German government is currently reviewing this request and has not yet made a final decision, but an official announcement could come on the eve of or during the NATO summit in July.

The German Ministry of Defense declined to comment, as did a spokesperson for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who noted that he needed time to verify this information.

Raytheon signed a contract to supply Ukraine with Patriot GEM-T interceptor missiles worth $3.7 billion.

The company reported that the new production facility in Germany is planned as a key element in supporting this agreement.

The Patriot GEM-T is an interceptor missile for the PAC-2 system, designed to engage all types of air threats.
