Ukraine is using AIM-132 ASRAAM short-range air-to-air missile ground launchers.

The respective photo was published in The Times article.

Judging by the photo, the launcher, mounted on the SupaCat chassis, is designed for two AIM-132 ASRAAM missiles.

Besides, an additional ammunition of two missiles is visible, most likely, the ammunition consists of two missiles on the rails and four in reserve.

The vehicle has no radar. Instead, an electronic optical sensor is mounted on a telescopic-like mast behind the cabin.

Andrii Haruk suggested in his article on Militarnyi that the new improvised air defense system can effectively fight helicopters and cruise missiles.

However, there is a problem of countering aircraft, as the external target designation is required.

ASRAAM

ASRAAM is a British short-range air-to-air guided missile manufactured by MBDA.

It is equipped with an infrared homing head based on a charge-coupled device, which forms an infrared image of the target.

The missile replaced the AIM-9 Sidewinder in the Royal Air Force and in Australia.

The RAF adopted ASRAAM in 2002.

The development of the missile lasted more than 25 years.
