Ukrainian defense tech firm Fulltime Robotics has unveiled a compact laser weapon system dubbed SlimBeam, featuring a 1.5 kW laser designed to counter drones and other airborne threats.
The development was announced by the Brave1 defense tech cluster, which noted the company’s recent focus on laser-based solutions alongside its core robotics work.
According to the manufacturer, the system is designed to disable drones at distances of up to 800 meters, and blind optical systems at up to 2 kilometers.
It can operate autonomously or be remotely controlled via a web-based interface, minimizing risk to personnel.
The SlimBeam turret can be deployed on mobile platforms or used in stationary configurations to protect critical infrastructure and military facilities.
According to the developers, the laser can also be used in explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and mine clearance operations.
The SlimBeam specifications:
“The beam is invisible and silent, which gives it an advantage on the battlefield,” said Fulltime Robotics CEO Igor. “The military can use lasers for sabotage: to burn a lock from a distance, to carry out demining, or to detonate. We are ready to develop more powerful lasers that will work at longer distances, but this requires scaling.”
SlimBeam is one of several emerging laser systems under development in Ukraine. In April, the Unmanned Systems Forces demonstrated the capabilities of another domestic laser system known as Tryzub.
