Ukraine received ten ALTO NG aircraft with the support of the Czech government and Czech citizens through the Dárek pro Putina charitable foundation.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced this.

The Ministry noted that the donated aircraft will enable the deployment of a comprehensive military pilot training system in Ukraine.

Training on light aircraft will significantly reduce the cost per flight hour compared with combat aircraft and accelerate cadets’ transition to Western-made aircraft.

On the ALTO NG, future pilots will practice basic and advanced piloting, navigation, and takeoff and landing procedures.

The aircraft will also be used as an intermediate training stage before transitioning to modern Western fighter jets.

Five aircraft were provided with the support of the Czech government, and another five were funded by Czech citizens through donations to the “Dárek pro Putina” fund.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that developing its own training infrastructure reduces dependence on foreign training programs, allows for more efficient use of resources, and ensures the autonomy of flight crew training.

“This approach to training significantly enhances the combat readiness of our pilots and makes air defense simpler, more modern, and more effective,” the Ministry of Defense emphasized.

The ALTO NG aircraft is manufactured by the Czech company Direct Fly. It is equipped with a Rotax 912 ULS engine rated at 100 k.s. The aircraft’s maximum takeoff weight is 600 kg, its cruising speed is 180 km/h, and its maximum speed is 260 km/h. The aircraft has a two-seat cockpit and can be used for flight training.

Czech volunteers from the Dárek pro Putina foundation announced a fundraiser for five training aircraft for Ukraine in August of last year.

They noted that the Ukrainian side had chosen this aircraft model as the “ideal aircraft for the basic training of its military pilots.”
