British-Ukrainian company Trypillian is preparing an upgraded version of its ATOM hybrid drone for deployment on the battlefield.
Speaking to Militarnyi at the Wild Drones event, Trypillian Commercial Director Viktoriia Kulchytska said the company is adapting the system to meet the changing realities of the war in Ukraine.
Trypillian has developed several innovative systems, including the Voron-10 UAV with FPV capability, the Bomber-15 strike drone, and the ATOM medium-range hybrid aerial platform.
The ATOM was used in combat operations in 2025, but advances in anti-drone warfare and electronic countermeasures have made upgrades necessary.
“Last year we used the ATOM on the battlefield, but under current conditions that is almost impossible, so we started modifying it,” the company said.
The company is working to localize as many drone components as possible in Ukraine, although some parts are still sourced from China.
“We localized everything we could in Ukraine. But unfortunately, there are certain chips that are not manufactured anywhere in the world except China,” Kulchytska said.
The ATOM is designed to combine strike capabilities with reconnaissance missions at ranges of up to approximately 50 kilometers.
The platform’s modular design allows the aircraft to be quickly reconfigured depending on the combat mission.
In reconnaissance and surveillance mode, the drone can remain airborne for up to four hours.
The drone’s 2.5 kg payload capacity allows it to carry either powerful warheads or advanced high-resolution electro-optical systems.
The system’s architecture also enables integration with modern battlefield management networks, allowing real-time transmission of target coordinates and coordination with other units during operations.
