Finland Orders €14 Million Worth of FPV Drones for Conscription Training

The Finnish Defense Forces have ordered €14 million worth of FPV drones to train conscripts.

The multi-year agreement was signed with Finnish company Insta Group, which shared the news on its website.

The procurement is part of a long-term program to develop the Finnish military’s unmanned aerial vehicle and unmanned systems capabilities.

The delivery of the new FPV drones will allow training in their use to be expanded to all brigade-level units.
This will significantly expand Finland’s capabilities in drone warfare.

The contract includes personnel training, spare parts, and technical maintenance for the drones.

Insta Group currently produces 7- and 10-inch FPV drones. In addition to training, the drones can carry warheads and other payloads.

The Finnish Army began training conscripts to operate FPV drones at the Finnish Defense Forces’ Military Academy in autumn 2025. Since early 2026, the training has been expanded to other brigade-level units across the country.

Together with Ukrainian specialists, Insta Group developed and presented the Steel Eagle ER strike drone for the Ukrainian Defense Forces in early 2025. It is equipped with a specialized munition containing pre-formed fragments that detonates in the air above the target.

Cooperation With Ukraine

Last week, Ukrainian developer Airlogix and Finnish company Innokas signed a letter of intent to establish production facilities in Finland for manufacturing drones based on Ukrainian technologies.

On August 23, Finnish company Patria and Ukrainian company General Cherry signed a letter of intent to begin joint drone production in Finland for Ukraine and Europe.

Ukrainian company Tencore and Finnish company Insta will also establish a joint venture to manufacture TerMIT 2.0 unmanned ground vehicles.
