The Kozak-5MED armored medical vehicle was admitted to service in the Ukrainian Armed Forces

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine codified the Kozak-5MED armored medical evacuation vehicle of domestic production.

The ministry said that the armored vehicle helped with the evacuation of the wounded and injured from the battlefield.

Kozak-5MED is based on the chassis of the American Ford F-550 heavy pickup.

It can transport four lying wounded or six in a seated position, except the driver and medical evacuation team personnel.

The vehicle is equipped with a diesel engine with a capacity of more than 330 horsepower and an automatic transmission.

A medical vehicle protects the crew and passengers from debris and bullets of 7.62-mm caliber.

In addition, the bottom of the armored car has enhanced protection, which can withstand explosions with a capacity equivalent to 6 kg of tnt.

Initially, the Kozak-5 was developed by the enterprise Practika for the needs of the police and special operations units of the KORD type.

In 2016, the armored vehicle was first presented at the International Specialized Exhibition Weapons and Security – 2016 in reconnaissance and transport modifications.

Currently, the doctors of the Defense Forces of Ukraine use various vehicles for evacuation, depending on the situation.

Among them there are modified Soviet tracked MT-LB, British FV104 Samaritan, specialized pickups “Bohdan,” American M1152 HMMWV, as well as various brands of ATVs.

As previously reported, this year the Ukrainian manufacturer of armored vehicles Research and Production Association PRACTIKA for the first time presented its Dzhura light tactical armored vehicle.
