The Swedish government has decided to fund Ukrainian long-range strike weapons (Deep Strike), which are used to strike important targets in Russia.
The Swedish Embassy stated that funding for Deep Strike is included in a new military aid package totaling €441 million.
The funds will be allocated for the purchase of ammunition, air defense systems, demining equipment, drones, as well as direct purchases of products from the Ukrainian defense industry.
“The package also includes long-range drones,” the embassy stated.
Over the past year, Ukraine has increased its production of Deep Strike drones by 22 times compared to 2022.
This progress has been made possible thanks to the support of international partners.
The Deep Strike category in Ukraine includes the Liutyi and Bobir long-range strike drones, as well as the Peklo and Palianytsia missile drones. In addition, the Defense Forces use a number of classified long-range weapons.
Today, more than 50% of Deep Strike drones have already been localized in Ukraine, from development to production.
These drones are actively used to strike critical targets on the territory of the Russian Federation.
In particular, they attack oil refineries, oil depots, and energy infrastructure facilities that supply fuel to the occupying forces and generate revenue for the Russian budget, which finances the aggression against Ukraine.
Liutyi is considered one of the most effective strike drones. It has a combat unit weighing 75 kilograms and a flight range of over 1,000 kilometers. This drone was responsible for a significant part of the recent strikes on strategic targets deep in the Russian rear.
Liutyi launches are usually coordinated with other types of drones, some of which act as decoys equipped with radar reflectors. This allows them to overcome the Russian air defense system and increase the effectiveness of combat strikes.
