Parts of Russia’s Kursk region were left without electricity after nighttime drone strikes on local electrical substations.

Aleksandr Khinshtein, the region’s governor, reported this on the morning of November 20 on Telegram.

He also published photos showing fires at the sites and debris from a drone.

“Last night, the enemy carried out strikes on electrical substations in the border zone. As a result of the attack, more than 16,000 people were left without electricity,” the governor reported.

According to him, the substations were attacked in the Glushkovsky, Rylsky, and Korenevsky districts of the Kursk region.

‘The consequences are being clarified; an engineering and demining inspection of the areas will be carried out shortly,’ Khinshtein said.

Meanwhile, he did not specify how many facilities were hit by the drones or which ones exactly. Judging by posts on social media, residents of the Kursk region started reporting explosions and complaining about power outages after 3 a.m.

Ukrainian strike drones also attacked the Ryazan oil refinery last night, one of the largest in Russia.
