Satellite imagery has confirmed damage to a production facility belonging to PJSC Energia, a key Russian supplier of power sources for military and aerospace equipment.

The OSINT project Open Source Centre published high-resolution images showing the destruction.

The photos reveal significant damage to one of the plant’s workshops in Yelets, Lipetsk region – approximately 200 kilometers from the Ukrainian border – caused by multiple drone strikes.

The initial damage occurred overnight on May 22–23, when a group of around a dozen long-range drones targeted the facility.

According to eyewitness accounts, several drones reached their target. Videos shared by local residents showed visible damage to the facility.

The Astra media outlet reported that a fire broke out in one of the workshops, injuring nine employees.

On the night of May 23–24, the plant came under another drone attack. Residents reported spotting unidentified drones over Yelets, followed by explosions.

Igor Artamonov, the governor of Lipetsk region, confirmed the repeated drone activity, saying a drone crashed in an industrial zone.

The satellite images published were captured on the morning of May 23 and therefore reflect only the results of the initial attack.

The company is one of Russia’s largest battery producers and plays a critical role in the country’s defense sector. Its batteries are used across a wide range of platforms — from drones to intercontinental ballistic missiles.

According to Russian contract tracking services, Energia has signed multi-million-ruble agreements with more than 20 defense customers, including the Ministry of Defense and other state defense enterprises.

PJSC Energia is considered a critical node in the supply chain for Russian weapons production. Only three such manufacturers operate in the country, with Energia being the largest.
