Russia Offers Egypt Bison “Anti-Drone” System

Russia is offering Egypt the Bison short-range anti-drone system, an export version of the Zubr.

Russia’s state-owned defense corporation Rostec reported the offer.

No other details of the proposal, including its cost or implementation timeline, have been disclosed.

The Russian army’s deployment of Zubr systems became known in late January. Their purpose is to protect critical infrastructure as well as military and industrial facilities.

The system was developed by the High-Precision Systems holding, which is part of Rostec.

The manufacturer claims that the radar station included in the system can detect both large and small aerial targets at ranges of up to 1.5 kilometers.

According to the developers, Zubr automatically detects a drone and tracks it.

The operator only needs to make the decision and issue the command to engage the target.

The system can also receive target designation from external detection sources.

The system consists of four separate modules, each equipped with four 7.62 mm PKT machine guns, as well as a command post and radar.

In May, Rostec also unveiled the ZAK-30 Citadel short-range air defense system.

The system is a stationary installation with a 30 mm automatic cannon designed to counter drones using programmable ammunition.
