Intellian Develops New Military Satellite Communications Systems

Intellian Technologies presented a range of satellite communications equipment for civilian, dual-use, and military and government applications at SMM 2026 in Hamburg.

Among the dual-use defense systems on display were the OW11FM and OW10HM series of maritime flat-panel antenna terminals.

The company also presented the lightweight OW7MP backpack antenna, designed to provide mobile communications in field conditions.

In the civilian sector, Intellian unveiled a new Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) console integrating VHF and MF/HF radios and Navtex systems.

The company also showcased the new 65-centimeter VS60 maritime terminal, designed for civilian shipping and operation on the high-capacity ViaSat-3 network.

The equipment is designed to meet the growing demand from both commercial shipping companies and military and government organizations for high-speed data transmission.

Intellian Technologies is a South Korean company and one of the world’s leading developers and manufacturers of satellite communications antenna systems.

It manufactures satellite terminals for the commercial maritime fleet, government organizations, aviation, and the armed forces.

The company’s products include traditional VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) satellite stations and GMDSS equipment, as well as modern flat-panel phased-array antennas.

Intellian develops equipment for operation in geostationary, medium Earth, and low Earth orbits and is a partner of Eutelsat OneWeb, Viasat, Inmarsat, and Iridium.

Earlier, satellite operator SES signed an agreement with OHB worth nearly €1 billion to develop and build satellites for the European IRIS² communications system.
