Russian troops have mounted a North Korean Type 75 107mm rocket launcher on a UAZ truck.
The photos were published on the @mag_vodogray Telegram channel.
The installation of this system on a vehicle is primarily due to the fact that, in its basic version, the Type 75 rocket system is a towed, which complicates its rapid deployment and dismantling.
Thus, one of the 107 mm systems was installed on a UAZ-3303 to increase its mobility and effectiveness.
It should be noted that the rocket launcher itself is mounted on a fixed platform without the possibility of horizontal guidance at large angles.
Preparing this system for installation did not require any significant changes: the wheels of the carriage on which the launcher was mounted were removed, and the structure was simply welded to an additional structure of the vehicle body.
The 107mm rocket system supplied by North Korea to the Russian army is a copy of the Chinese Type 63 MRL, which was designated Type 75 by the DPRK armed forces.
Depending on the platform, this MRL can have a different number of launch tubes: 12 in the towed version and up to 16, 24, or 27 in self-propelled or ship-based versions.
The ammunition consists of two types of shells. According to their identification and the Russian firing instructions, the high-explosive fragmentation shell is designated RSZO-107-OF (“파지-921”), and the cluster shell is designated RSZO-107-E (“107 산포”) with 15 submunitions.
The maximum known firing range is 8.6 km.
It is worth recalling that in one of his speeches, the head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, said that the Russian army had received a significant amount of barrel and rocket artillery from North Korea.
Among these weapons was Type 75, which has not been widely used in a self-propelled version, so the Russians will likely increasingly install it on vehicle platforms.
