Ukraine has launched the “Logistical Lockdown” program to scale up strikes on Russian logistics at operational depth, allocating billions of hryvnias to the initiative.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced that the program’s goal is to impose a full logistical lockdown on Russian forces.
One of the key elements of the strategy is the decision to scale up medium-range strike drones.
A medium-range strike drone is a system with a flight range of up to 300 km.
After Starlink was disabled for Russian troops, this became another factor in Ukraine’s technological advantage on the battlefield.
Within the first stage of the program, the Ministry of Defense, together with the General Staff, allocated an additional UAH 5 billion directly for the military to purchase medium-range strike systems.
The most effective brigades and units will receive the funding.
“The first units have already received funds, and direct purchases have already begun,” Mykhailo Fedorov said.
At the same time, in the second stage of the program, centralized tenders are being launched to purchase a large batch of medium-range strike systems.
“Open competitions are not only about the speed and scaling of production. They are also about competition between manufacturers,” Mykhailo Fedorov noted.
According to plans, results from the centralized procurement of medium-range strike systems are expected to become visible on the front line in the summer.
Ukrainian middle strike drones have already forced Russian forces to restrict truck movement through occupied areas of the Kherson region toward Crimea.
