A Russian Shahed kamikaze drone struck a Chinese cargo ship in the Black Sea.

Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk said there were no reported casualties, and the vessel continued its journey after the attack.

This is not the first time Russian forces have attacked civilian shipping. In late April 2026, a Russian drone struck a civilian cargo ship flying the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis as it was heading to a port of the Great Odesa ports group to load grain.

The strike started a fire on board, but the crew successfully put it out.

Another incident occurred on April 14, 2026, when Russian forces attacked a civilian cargo ship flying the flag of Liberia as it was heading to the port of Odesa.

That same night, Russian forces also struck the port of Izmail, damaging a ship flying the flag of Panama.
