Russian Rostov-on-Don submarine neutralized in Sevastopol

The Rostov-on-Don submarine of the Russian Navy was neutralized in occupied Crimea.

On the night of September 13, explosions rang out in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

As a result of rocket fire in Sevastopol, a fire occurred at the Sevastopol Shipyard.

Later, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced damage to two ships under repair.

Those were the Minsk large landing ship and the Rostov-on-Don submarine.

Ukrainian intelligence confirmed the attack on Sevastopol. The representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Andrii Yusov, said that the planned work on the demilitarization of the peninsula continues.

Two dead and 26 injured were reported. According to ForPost, among them were no employees of Sevastopol Shipyard.

As of the afternoon, the Minsk ship was still burning. Analysts of the Oryx OSINT project concluded that the ship was not just damaged, but completely destroyed.

Rostov-on-Don (B-237) diesel-electric submarine was part of the 4th Separate Submarine Brigade of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation.

The boat was laid down in 2011 at the Admiralty Yard in St. Petersburg, in 2014, it was launched, and at the end of the year, it was assigned to the Black Sea Brigade based in Novorossiysk.

Rostov-on-Don is one of the six submarines in Project 636.3. This is a new submarine, built after the Russians occupied Crimea.

The Rostov-on-Don submarine was involved in hostilities before the invasion of Ukraine. In particular, in 2015, from the Mediterranean Sea, he launched missile attacks on the facilities of ISIS terrorists in Syria.
