Russian forces attacked a civilian vessel flying the Liberian flag that was heading to the Ukrainian port of Odesa.

This was reported on April 14 by the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.

According to the ministry, the ship was traveling through a maritime corridor to load corn.

It was struck by a Russian attack drone, the model of which was not specified.

The strike caused a fire on board, which the crew was able to quickly extinguish.

There were no casualties among the crew members.

After the attack, the vessel continued its journey and reached its destination port.

The ministry emphasized that this is not the first instance of attacks on civilian shipping in the region.

In particular, on the night of April 14, Russian forces attacked the port of Izmail, where they damaged a Panamanian-flagged vessel.

Despite the attacks, the operation of the maritime corridor and Ukrainian ports remains stable.

“Ukraine continues to ensure exports and the functioning of port infrastructure, despite constant threats from Russia,” the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine emphasizes.

Recently, Russia also struck port and energy infrastructure in the Odesa region.
