The Russian ship attacked by the Special Operations Forces drone was the Rasul Gamzatov, a Rubin-class patrol boat.

At the same time, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Telegram that the attack took place in the Caspian Sea.

The General Staff noted that the ship was patrolling the Caspian Sea near an oil and gas production platform.

The ship was attacked by several drones; the extent of the damage is currently being determined. The Cyberboroshno community noted that the damaged ship is most likely the Rasul Gamzatov (511), which belongs to the Russian Coast Guard in the Republic of Dagestan.

This is the only ship of this class in the Caspian Sea, the rest are distributed between the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov, and the Pacific Ocean.

Rubin-class patrol boats, classified in Russia as Project 22460 Okhotnik, are relatively modern vessels in the Russian Coast Guard.

They have been under construction since 2007 at the Almaz shipyard in St. Petersburg and the Vostochnaya Verf in Vladivostok.

To date, 14 boats of this type have been constructed and commissioned. They are distributed among the regional departments of the Russian Coast Guard.

The largest group of these ships is based mainly in Novorossiysk and Balaklava (occupied Crimea).

  • Rubin (350) is the lead ship of the class.
  • Zhemchug (351)
  • Izumrud (352)
  • Ametist (353)
  • Provornyi (354)
  • Predannyi (355)
  • Bezuprechnyi (356)

The other three ships are based in Vladivostok and Nakhodka. They were built at the local Vostochnaya Verf shipyard.

  • Sapfir (113)
  • Koral (114)
  • Dozornyi (115)

The patrol boat Nadezhnyi (400), based in the city of Baltiysk, is on duty in the Baltic Sea.

Three more units of this project perform tasks as part of the Western Arctic Directorate based in Murmansk: the ships Bditelnyi (401) and Dostoinyi (402).

Brief tactical and technical characteristics of the Rubin-class patrol boats:

  • Displacement: 630 tons
  • Length: 62.5 meters
  • Width: 12 meters
  • Crew: 24 people
  • Speed: up to 30 knots
  • Autonomy: up to 60 days
  • Armament: 30 mm AK-630 artillery system and 12.7 mm KORD machine gun

In addition, Special Operations Forces drones hit an oil platform at the Filanovsky oil and gas field in the Caspian Sea, which belongs to Lukoil.

These rigs produce hydrocarbons, which, in particular, were used to supply fuel to the Russian armed forces.

The press service of the Special Operations Forces noted that the initial reserves of the field are estimated at about 129 million tons of oil and 30 billion cubic meters of gas.
