Russian Kh-101 Cruise Missile Strikes Poland

During Russia’s large-scale overnight attack on Ukraine on July 30, a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile entered Polish airspace.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed the incident.

“Everything indicates that it was a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile,” Tusk stated during a meeting on the incident.

Tusk said the Polish military was prepared to shoot down the missile if it had continued deeper into the country’s airspace.

Previously, Ukraine’s foreign minister also said that a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile had entered Polish airspace.

As previously reported, at 4:40 a.m. on July 30, 2026, the eRadar and Strategic Aviation monitoring channels reported a cruise missile over Polish territory. About an hour earlier, at 3:16 a.m., the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command announced that military aircraft had been scrambled in response to Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

According to Strategic Aviation, the missile was flying over Poland’s Lublin Voivodeship, which borders Ukraine’s Volyn region, at 4:40 a.m.

At 5:58 a.m. Kyiv time, local news outlet Lublin112 reported a powerful explosion in Lublin County. Later, a crater caused by the warhead of a Russian missile was discovered in a field near the village of Tarnawa-Kolonia in Biłgoraj County, Lublin Voivodeship. The site is located about 95 kilometers (59 miles) from the Ukrainian border.

At 8:07 a.m. Kyiv time, the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command released an official statement. According to the military, one of the aerial targets came within 5 kilometers (3.1 miles)of the Polish border at approximately 3:29 a.m. Polish time.

At 3:40 a.m., the target was detected flying westward over Polish territory. An F-16 fighter jet was scrambled to identify and intercept it. At 3:46 a.m., the missile disappeared from radar.

According to data from the Air Defense Radar and Monitoring tracking channels, the Russian Kh-101 cruise missile entered Ukrainian airspace over the Sumy region and flew toward the country’s western regions. After reaching the Volyn region, it crossed the border into Poland.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force Command, Russia launched 74 missiles during the attack, including 61 Kh-101/Kalibr cruise missiles, four Zircon/Oniks missiles, and nine Iskander-M/S-400/KN-23 ballistic missiles. In addition, Russian forces launched 265 drones.
