Red Cross on its way to the site of Olenivka shelling – patronage service of Azov Regiment

The patronage service of the Azov Regiment is working on identifying the wounded and the dead in Olenivka. Recently shelled local prison was the last known location of numerous Ukrainian POWs.

This was reported by the Angels of Azov.

The International Committee of the Red Cross also went to the place of shelling.

“We are identifying the names of the dead and injured through our sources. The International Committee of the Red Cross is also on its way there,” the report said.

All information about the tragedy posted in Russian Telegram channels and other mass media is being used as a form of psychological pressure and manipulation.

“Any information currently appearing in Russian Telegram channels and other mass media is a psychological special operation against Azov and Ukrainian society. Therefore, we urge you to wait until everything is verified,” they statement reads.

On the morning of July 29, Russian propagandists announced the death of Ukrainian prisoners of war. They were kept in a penitentiary facility in the occupied Olenivka village of the Donetsk Region. The Russian disinformation network is promoting a story of an alleged “attack” at the prison from the Ukrainian side. In addition to the 40 dead, propagandists claim 130 POWs are wounded.

At the time of this publication, the Russian media reports that the number of dead has increased to 53, and the number of wounded – 75 soldiers.

Russian media and Telegram channels release videos featuring dead bodies without specifying the circumstances of their deaths.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that it was a targeted, deliberate shelling by the invaders.

According to the Commander of the Missile Forces and Artillery of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not launch missile or artillery strikes in the Olenivka area.
